Folly Farm’s original residence dates to 1834. 30 years ago, the owners carefully restored and modernized it, respecting its Hudson Valley Federal architecture. While renovating, the owners’ family lived in the three-bedroom guest house across from the main residence. The 16’ x32’ eat-in and cooks’ kitchen with butler’s pantry leads to a spacious and fully equipped office (with fireplace) affording private work space or a “farm office” with its own entrance. The kitchen’s large fireplace (one of six in the house), wide heart pine board floors, cathedral ceiling and large windows facing in all directions create informal entertaining and family space. The stone and brick terrace just outside extend this feeling to the outdoors. Folly Farm has hosted large field and farm events for the Dutchess Land Conservancy, the American Devon Cattle Association, among other organizations.
